Street Fighter x Tekken. It's happening.

Capcom have been in the business of making dreams come true this generation with every single one of their beat 'em up releases. This is just another gift from the foundation. Not just an announcement, but a teaser trailer and screenshots to boot! I wish I could be excited. I love Street Fighter and I love Tekken . But at no point did I ever want the two together in a game. Thankfully not everybody is a stick in the mud like me. Trends on Twitter and the response at Comic con when Capcom first showed this game revealed that the reality of this game caused fanboys to spray more than Kazuya did in the trailer. The Street Fighter and Tekken cross over is being handled as the ultimate fan pleaser - as it will see the release of 2 games. Capcom will be developing Street Fighter x Tekken which will utilize Street Fighter IV 's engine. Whilst Namco will develop Tekken x Street Fighter which will make use of the engine which runs the Tekken games. Both games are being developed i...

VGM remix: Street Fighter Alpha 3 - Karin's theme

I'd received a request from a kind fella who liked my Street Fighter remixes and asked me to do something with Karin's theme from Street Fighter Alpha 3 . He said it was one of his favourites from the game, but that it is not a theme that people often remix or do things with (trailing the guides to life that are Google and YouTube indicated he weren't lying). This request came yonks ago and I'm sure the poor guy has given up wondering if I'd materialize anything. But when I say I'll do something, I always will. Even if it takes me a little while... I wouldn't class this as a remix, as it's pretty much identical to the original. The only real difference is the kicks knocks a little harder, the bass is a little heavier, the snares strike out more and the introduction of some beat switches at the end. Okay, so that's four differences. But it still isn't really a remix.

VGM remix: Super Street Fighter II - Fei-Long's theme

A friend of mine didn't like what was done with Fei-Long's HD remix theme and that Capcom decided to completely change it for Street Fighter IV (sentiments which I also shared). So I decided to re-do Fei-Long's theme! Keeping it very much the same as the original, except for some extra kick here and there. I was so shocked when I heard Fei-Long's theme in Super Street Fighter II Turbo: HD remix . It sounded so muted and toned down, and a complete contrast from how big 'n loud his theme originally was. So I decided to try and emphasize that fee with my rendition. So for those who like me were dissapointed that Capcom did away with Fei-Long's original theme completely in Street Fighter IV : here ya go!

VGM remix: Super Street Fighter II - Cammy's theme

I love Cammy's theme. But it was a bitch to settle on. This shit went through more changes than Elizabeth Taylor's husbands. Every time I thought it was done, the song would haunt me through my iPod to re-do it. This was how it went for the best part of 2 years. But I've finally settled on a mix (for now). So I'm just going to share it with you before I change it all over again. Cammy's theme has always been one of my favourites. Aside from Cammy being a great new addition to the Street Fighter crew, she was given a brilliant theme. I think it's part of what made her such a memorable character. Aside from the front 'n back flossing, jiggly titties and special moves which feature the words 'thrust' and 'drill'. The other Street Fighter remixes... Character select | Ryu | Ken | Chun-Li | Guile | Dhalsim | Zangief | Sakura

VGM remix: Street Fighter Alpha 2 - Sakura's theme

I remember the first time I remixed Sakura's theme. It had this really ethereal R&B vibe to it. I loved it. I still play it to myself now and again. But it didn't really reflect Sakura's personality. Not that the piece had to. But I did think to myself "Maybe I should do another remix that has that fun, effervescent charm that Sakura has..." Something you could imagine her 2 stepping and flashing her panties to. So create a 2 stepping pantie flashing remix I did... The switch at the end wasn't intended. I was messing around with bass lines and then in the midst of my messing around thought "Oooo, that sounds kinda hot!" And the proceeded to give the song a full breakdown. It's completely different from the main part of the song, but I like it so much that I left it in. I'm thinking about Sakura folks! She can get her bubble gum step on to the first part of the song, and then grind up on her senpai and get sexy to the last part. I did have...

Game review: Marvel vs. Capcom 2

When Capcom released X-Men vs. Street fighter , it shook the beat 'em up crowd BIG time. Never before had we seen a 2D beat 'em up that was so over the top which featured attacks that engulfed the whole screen and had characters launching themselves 3 screens high into the air. Marvel super heroes vs. Street Fighter and Marvel vs. Capcom came along, more over the top and epileptic fit inducing than the last game, and we thought it'd end there. That was until Capcom decided "F**k it! Let's do another sequel!" and they chucked in every character and their kitchen sink for Marvel vs. Capcom 2 . This game is the classic that fans and Capcom alike won't let be forgotten: with a console re-release in 2002 and a surprise HD'd up digital release in 2009 when fans didn't even think it was possible. Yep. This is the game that just keeps on giving. Marvel vs. Capcom 2 brought two pretty big changes to the series. First off was that the team count was uppe...

Game review: Street Fighter IV

Street Fighter IV needs no introduction really. It's a beat 'em up. With a bunch of character enforcing stereotypes, who want to kick, punch and lob fireballs to the death. IV is really just more of what you love, glossed up in a HD package. But it's how Capcom glossed up the package that makes this game special. Street Fighter IV is as close to Super Street Fighter II Turbo as the action gets without completely stripping away new attack methods and technicalities. We've got no multiple ISM's, air recoveries and alpha counters of Street Fighter Alpha 3 . No super art selects and parries of Street Fighter III . Instead we have a whole lot condensed into the new focus attack system. The focus attack can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be. Newbie's will use it to simply crash an opponents guard and land a cheap hit just as they've swept an opponent. The more advanced players will use it to cancel attacks, counter and get some parry action in the...

VGM remix: Street Fighter II - Ken's theme

I was listening to Britney Spears' album Blackout before I did this mix and had her song "Freakshow" stuck in my head, which is why the start sounds a lot like it. Some of you may be weary of listening to a remix of a Street Fighter song that was influenced by a Britney Spears' song, and I can't blame you. But give this a chance. I would never intentionally ruin a Street Fighter composition. I'm not sure why, but whenever I try to re-create Ken's theme it always comes out sounding really dark and having an electro pop vibe. I try to do the whole up-beat thing, but it never seems to work out. I take things in a darker direction and I always find myself running with it.
