I saw this logo and instantly knew this had to be a game from Mistwalker, who are pretty much Squaresoft as they were back in the 90's. I've not yet played any of their games. They always seem to look really cool, but fall under radars really quickly.
Mistwalker's latest RPG is heading for Wii. And whilst not much is known about the game, the artwork and the prospect of a potential Final Fantasy rival on the Wii is exciting fans.
I hope Mistwalker have considered pre-rendering the backgrounds. Because they aren't going to get that level of detail from environments if they model them in 3D on the Wii. Not even close.
It'd be premature for me to get excited about this game given that next to nothing is known about it. But it has the potential to be something cool. Good luck to Mistwalker getting Wii owners to go and buy this. They're gonna need it. My Wii is is boxed up in my cupboard. I didn't even bring it out of retirement to go buy Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and I was hungry for that game.
You can check out the official website for The last story here. There's not much on it as I post this, but you can listen to a lovely piece of music which sounds like title screen music if Final Fantasy trends are anything to go by. It's not yet been revealed who will be working on the soundtrack to this game. But I get Final Fantasy Uematsu vibes from the piece on the website...

Interesting...I heard of it but hadn't seen any concept art. I'll keep my eye on it.
ReplyDeleteYour lil Wii is all locked up in your dark, dank cupboard like Harry Potter was? Poor thing! Fragile is out now too, and you seem interested in that game, plus Silent Hill Shattered Memories. There - 2 more games to check out when you've finished FF13!
I forgot all about those! *lol*
ReplyDeleteI doubt I'll end up buying them now to be honest. Ever since getting my 360, I've become less and less interested in the Wii.
In the way of Wii and DS RPG's, I really liked the look of Opoona. But that took so long to come out over here, that by the time it did, I forgot all about it. Mistwalker's ASH: Archaic sealed heat was also on my radars from way back. But it doesn't look like it's going to get a European release now :(
You've also got FF: Crystal Chronicles, The Crystal Beares! 3 games now :D
ReplyDeleteSadly none of the games I've mentioned have had adverts on TV to promote them, I only know they're out 'cos of Nintendo Magazines.
I'm currently all over my PS3 but I'll be jumping back to my wii and PS2 when I've finished with FFXIII, Heavy Rain and Sonic the Hedgehog. I'm always finding new games (old classics and upcoming releases) to bring out all my consoles, so I rarely back consoles away, my PS2 especially is still getting a lot of love from me.
