Link may have been a loveable expressive little bundle of onion headed shaped joy in The Wind waker. But he wasn't my favourite character in that game. His little sister was. Reading that last sentence back to myself, I'm partially (more like downright) aware of wrong it could potentially have sounded. But I swear to you. It's all in a paternal form innocence.
Aryll played a small role in The Wind waker, but she was a big deal. As big a deal as being the first character in a Zelda game to be of a direct relation to Link can be. Which is...a fucking big deal.
Word of Link having a sister threw fans into a frenzy as much as the games' graphical style did. Link!? Has family? WTF Nintendo!? UR RUINING ZELDA! OH NOES!! But the dynamic of Link having a younger sister worked wonderfully - because it gave a Link a simple purpose for embarking on his adventure, with an instantly understandable and relatable cause: to simply rescue somebody whom he cares about. And because of how bloody adorable Aryll was, you genuinely wanted him to find her. Plus, he was too young to be thinking about Zelda's pussy how adult Link was in Twilight princess anyway. So that angle had to go straight out of the window.
Aryll is one of the most adorable characters to feature in a Zelda game. And I will not listen to anybody try and tell me otherwise. The little bitch is just a bundle of gold. Watching her call for Link and toddle around the island to find him at the start of the game never fails to raise a smile. And just sums up the charm which made The wind waker stand out so much from not only other Zelda games, but other games...PERIOD! Saria. I love you. And you worked the hell out of those green booty shorts. But Aryll's sweet and innocent charm threw yo' sexiness under a spirit train. Gurl, bye.
Aryll. If you were a baby in Malawi, I'd adopt you. I'd adopt you so fast.

I didn't even complete WW but I remember rescuing her around the beginning of the game.
ReplyDeleteI want Aryll to be playable in the next Smash bros game.
