Skyward sword does something which no other Zelda game has done to date and that is to introduce Zelda to the player as a true character. Over time she's become fleshed out by Nintendo's standards (which is but barely) and has even proven a bit useful, albeit in a predictable role of arming herself with a bow and some light arrows. But Skyward sword is the first game in the series to introduce Zelda as an actual character. You get to know her and interact with her as Zelda. Not Zelda in a guise. Zelda as a pirate. Or Zelda as a ninja. Or even Zelda as a princess. But Zelda as Link's childhood friend. A regular girl.
Nintendo pushed Link and Zelda's relationship a touch in Spirit tracks and we even managed to get a moment in the games' ending. But the feelings between Link and Zelda have always been unspoken and left to our imagination. Or in some cases down right non-existent. Skyward sword lays their feelings on the table and then smothers your face in it. Link is in awe of Zelda and fancies the triforce off of her vagina. And Zelda wants Link's willy like Tingle wants rupee's...and also Link's willy. This creates a great dynamic between Link and Zelda, because it's one we've never seen before. Link and Zelda always seem really close, yet distant. Their relationship is somewhat implied, but in what capacity and on what level? It's never hinted at. Link is the hero. Zelda is the princess he always saves. That's really it. And in Twilight princess there was a complete disconnect from Zelda altogether. But Skyward sword brings their relationship down to teenage drama level, but in the sweetest way without tales of alcoholism, drugs and unprotected sex which plagues many of these teenage loves today. They both really like each other. And it's like...totally obvious. But neither of them seems ready to really do anything about it. That is until Zelda suggests a nice afternoon fly around the city. But just as she goes to utter those words...she gets swept away by a tornado.
The opening moments of Skyward sword are light on the action, but heavy on the relationship building. And even though it took the best part of 25 years, it's great that Nintendo not only touches on the relationship of Link and Zelda, but spins it in a palatable way we've seen across comic books, films and episodes of The O.C. For this to all be crammed into the very start of the game gives Link a strong purpose for embarking on his adventure to find Zelda. He's doing it for the pussy. Not really because he wants to fulfill any type of destiny the Goddess has set him on the path to.
Thoughts so far? Zelda's a ho and I love her with all of my heart containers.

Not gonna lie. It would have been nice to play this game but I'll be over by next week.
