Yes. Everything Is Rubbish.

Well. I guess it’s over. Well, season 1 at least, because after rumblings that there would be a second season of Loki, we got confirmation in place of a mid credit scene in the finale. And what a finale it was. Loki has continued to completely throw me from episode to episode. Every time I go in expecting a zig-a-zig-ah, the bitch fucking ZAGS. And that’s exactly what the finale did. I can imagine that the Loki finale will wind up being as divisive as episode 3, because of the pace of it and the feeling that not enough happened.

This fucking show. So much of what happened in this episode I didn't see coming. And whilst I do have a theory on things we may see in the finale, I’m still not 100% sure of where this story is ultimately going to go, aside from Sylvie getting a new outfit and becoming the fully fledged Enchantress, and that maybe Loki is the final boss waiting in that castle.

So after an episode that everybody unanimously dragged for being filler, episode 4 gave us a WHOLE lotta shit. It was like the writers knew folk were gonna be pissed that episode 3 didn’t do enough (I disagree) and then had to throw in the kitchen sink for the next episode. But we also have to remember that this show has to move pretty licketty-split because it’s only 6 episodes long. But this also keeps in tone with the urgency of the setup of the show, of fixing time, quickly. Pruning folk, quickly. And catching variants, quickly.

So, episode 3 of Loki. I can already imagine this being a divisive episode for a number of reasons. The most prominent being that it’s a filler episode, and that there aren’t enough episodes for the show to be squandering any of them on filler. First off, I’ll admit that initially I didn’t think this episode was as good as episodes 1 and 2. Not because it felt like ‘filler’ (which isn’t always an inherently bad thing; filler ≠ bad). My thing was that it didn’t really include much of the TVA - an establishment that I really dig. From the characters there, to the overall setting; I think the show did SUCH a good job establishing the world of the TVA and making it so cool, that when they rip you away from it this episode, you really do miss it. Even though you know it’s all a sham LONG before the reveal we get in this episode that everybody who works there is a variant. I have to hand it to this show. Because based on shit I’d read online (with set photos and everything) and YouTube videos speculating, I already knew that this Variant was going to be deemed a variant of Loki and that it’d turn out to be a woman. And yet, the whole build up to that moment was still immensely satisfying, because everything about this show up until this point has been so fucking good. And the biggest focus of this episode for me wasn’t who exactly the variant is and why they’re doing what they’re doing - it was seeing more of Loki and Mobius together. And their interactions together were easily the highlights of this episode, where we got apocalypses, jokes and an opening fight scene to Bonnie Tyler’s “Holding Out For a Hero”.

I said I wasn’t gonna do any type of recap or anything on Marvel Studios' Disney+ show Loki, but here I fucking am. Because this show is really good so far, I have shit to say about it; and because I no longer have a Twitter account to blurt my thoughts out, they’re all just pent up. So here we go. You are welcome for this thing that nobody asked for. But this won’t be a recap. Because what is the point in a recap for you , the person who ended up here because you’ve already watched the damn episode?! The first thing I’ll say is this. I like that Loki doesn’t look nor feel like either WandaVision or The Falcon and The Winter Soldier . A big issue for me when it came to the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies was that directors weren’t always able to put their own stamps on films, resulting in many of them looking the same. I genuinely wondered if Sam would actually become Captain America in this show. But the fucking did. And y’all. It was a great moment. I was torn on it though. Not because of the way it was handled or feeling that Sam didn’t deserve it. But because of the bitter part of me feeling that America didn’t deserve Sam - something which the show is not oblivious to.

Sam and Bucky were supposed to take back the shield. Not my whole lacefront and wig *looks into the camera* cap. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier has continued to wow me week to week in ways I never expected it to. I thought this was gonna be a cute lil’ buddy action adventure which was basically 6 episodes of The Winter Soldier, and it kinda is. But it’s also SO much more.

Episode 3 of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier felt a little strange to me. It was cool to get a bit of a globe hopping episode. But the energy of it felt so different to episodes 1 and 2 , which was probably due to the way it expanded the cast, leaving little room for introspective Sam and Bucky moments. But it was great seeing Zemo again and getting a sense of who he is and where we can see him going over the next couple of episodes. Episode 4 feels like it’s back on track in one sense, but also suffers a little because of narrative decisions made in episode 3, and that one character isn’t getting the development they sorely needed at this point in the story.

It's a Captain America: Civil War reunion y'all. With a cameo that NOBODY saw coming. And by nobody, I mean just me. Because OF COURSE [REDACTED] was gon' turn up.

I wanna start by saying that when I originally wrote this, it was 5000 words. I was about to post it up. Then this fucking app glitched, deleted my post, then autosaved without allowing any form of undo. So fuck Blogger and its autosave feature with no versioning. With the way episode 1 ended, the writers of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier absolutely knew that we were all gonna be hating on whoever the fuck this new ‘Captain America’ was, even though we knew nothing about him. It didn't matter. Because Steve didn't approve this man. And for that bald bitch who shook Sam's hand in episode 1 when he handed the shield over to tell him that he made the right choice, knowing a new Cap was going to be appointed and given the shield!? Foul. But the show wants us to give this man a chance, so episode 2 opens with him outta the suit. Just as regular John Walker.

For those of you who don't know, my fave Marvel film is Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which introduced Falcon and... *coughs* The Winter Soldier. Everything about that film is just great, because it was more than just superhero shit. It was a good spy thriller type movie. I was also partial to YouTubing videos of the actors Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan doing press together, as they had a great off-screen chemistry that we never saw on screen. So when I heard The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was getting a show, I said 'YES BITCH'. This was the one Marvel show that I was most looking forward to, which is what made WandaVision being so damn good such a surprise to me, because I had ZERO expectation of it and didn't care for it when it was announced. HENNYWAY.

Well, it's over . The finale episode of WandaVision, simply titled The Series Finale . The WandaVision finale was pretty much the showdown we knew we were gonna get following the end of episode 8 ; a witch off between Agatha and Wanda, and a Vision 2.0 vs. Wii White Vision showdown, with some questions being answered along the way. But episode 9 was less about tying up loose ends and more about closing a chapter, both figuratively and in Wanda's case quite literally. WandaVision had pretty much given most of the answers it had to give by episode 8. We knew who Agatha was. We knew Wanda was born a witch. We knew that man was not Quicksilver. We knew why sitcoms. We knew that Wanda created the whole damn thing. We knew Vision and those kids couldn't exist outside of the Hex. We knew Hayward was a bad guy. So the only real mystery left was how it'd all end.

I'mma say this right now. I know some folk are gonna be PISSED at this episode, because they feel that not enough happened. WandaVision slowed things right the way down for episode 8, which may seem strange for the penultimate episode given what we know is gonna go down in the finale. But not a second was wasted. Y'all may think this episode gave nothing, but it actually gave a lot, and set an interesting course for some of these characters and the MCU for phase four.

Episode 6 ended on a big ol' cliffhanger that left us saying 'WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK' when that Please Stand By screen hit. Then episode 7 came along and said 'OH. You mad about that one!?' and dropped the Please Stand By on an even bigger cliffhanger which answered a bunch of questions, whilst (in true WandaVision fashion) leaving us with a whole bunch more. WandaVision did it again y'all. Answered maybe one or two of our questions from last week, whilst throwing about a dozen more in our faces before peacing out after 30 minutes. Yep. We're still getting these 30 minute episodes. But I have to hand it to the WandaVision team, because they haven't wasted a single second with these past 3 episodes. And they always leave you thinking of ways you can just put yourself into a coma for a week until the next episode drops. 'Because honestly. What is even life in this hellfire of a year these days without WandaVision?' Says I. Oh. Did I just make a hell reference?!

Watching WandaVision is all I be living for these days. C'MON DEPRESSION. You bedda work bitch. WandaVision had a bit of an iffy start when it put out a first episode which gave us close to nothing on its own, then a second episode which gave a bit more, but still not much to chew on other than how amazing the production values were. But now 5 episodes in, WandaVision is in its stride. For the past 3 weeks each episode has managed to have me come away feeling as though nothing has happened, a lot happened, that I'm no closer to figuring out a damn thing, and that I have everything sussed, to wiping my entire whiteboard. All at fucking once. I'm living.

Depending on who you ask, WandaVision was off to a rocky start, with a duo of episodes which didn't give away much . Then a third episode which gave away a little more , but still not enough for a show that's three episodes into a mystery that it wants you to be invested in and care about. But regardless of how you felt about episodes 1 to 3, THIS episode right here is the one we were all waiting for. The one that will push those who were on the fence into seeing the entire show through. Although, let's face it. You were always gonna watch this shit. 'Cos I know you want that money's worth out of your Disney+ account and that you ain't been watched shit on the service since The Mandalorian's second season finale aired. After 3 episodes set in a sitcom, we finally get an episode filling us in on what exactly has been happening in the world outside of WandaVision.
