I tried to be a pissy bastard and not like this game. But Valve have gone and dropped a trailer that has gone and done it...
A month after buying the game came the announcement that a sequel was in the works, set for a November release no less! I was suppressing the livid when I heard about this. "I spend forty quid on the first game and now there's a second!?" I was mad. I was pissed off. And also stupid. I'lla dmit that much. It wasn't like the first game was new when I bought it. It was continuing to sell, yet fans wanted more. The game heading to Xbox 360 was also a good look. So of course Valve were going to put out a sequel instead of constant DLC's.
So I'm now liking Left 4 dead 2. Not enough to buy the game. Something about the campaigns just aren't doing it for me. The day light, samey locations, too much orange. But the game looks as fun as the original, looks to have some killer (literally) set pieces and we actually have a story and some narrative this time around which goes further and deeper than: There's a rabies virus. People's infected with it. Stay alive. The end.
I'm warming to the new crew too. All of whom look like they were based on somebody real. Coach looks like Issac Hayes with a flawed gastric bypass. Nick looks like Alec Baldwin. Ellis looks like the lead singer of OneRepublic. And Rochelle looks like Tamala Jones.
Despite my vow to play more Left 4 dead, I haven't played it at all. I forget at times that I have the game at all! Plus, every time I play it, everybody ends up dead right at the end of a stage when we're all awaiting rescue.

I played the original as a single player zombie shooter and enjoyed it fine in that respect... I never got into the 'multi-player' online thing, but I don't think I'll ever get into that online scene, with the exception of 1:1 races/football
ReplyDeletematches/fights -and I've only done a little of that...
I traded the first game in ages ago and am in no rush to get the sequel, although I will when the price drops right down... and I'll play it like the original.
